About Footloose
Footloose is one of the most famous and loved musicals in the world. It was written by Dean Pitchford, with music by Tom Snow and lyrics by Dean Pitchford himself.
The story is based on the hit 1984 movie Footloose, which became popular for its energetic dancing, unforgettable songs, and powerful message about freedom and friendship.
The musical follows a teenager named Ren McCormack, who moves from a big city to a small town called Bomont. Ren soon discovers something shocking — dancing and loud music are banned in the town!
The rule was created after a tragic accident many years ago, and the adults believe banning dancing will keep young people safe. But Ren believes that music and dance help people express their feelings and bring joy.
With courage, kindness, and a lot of rhythm, Ren teams up with his new friends — including the strong and spirited Ariel Moore — to challenge the rule and help the town rediscover happiness.
Age Considerations
Footloose is suitable for general audiences, though it features themes of teenage rebellion, music, and romance. It is best suited for ages 10 and up.
