The PE team is dedicated to the wellbeing and physical development of students through an instructional programme that includes games, adventure challenges, movement composition, gymnastics, individual pursuits and health-related fitness. As with all other areas of the Primary School curriculum when connections to transdisciplinary learning are authentic, collaborative teams are formed and a holistic approach is planned and implemented.
The programme supports the growth of physical literacy (knowledge), both the skills of PE and learning, and transferable understandings. Expectations are specific and clear. They support both gross and fine motor development. Homeroom teachers constantly support the physical development of learners through games and activities within and beyond the classroom.
The Sport element of the programme is satisfied through the After School Activities programme. We are very fortunate to be the only school in Bengaluru that has a temperature controlled pool, which allows students to swim comfortably, during their weekly swimming lessons, all year round. Football, volleyball, tennis, badminton, and taekwondo, to name a few, are offered on Tuesday and Thursday afternoons. Learners sign up for friendly, competitive and/or skill-based activities at this time. Competition is played in-school and against other local schools.
