The IB Learner Profile is made up of ten attributes. They outline the aspirations of internationally minded students engaged in IB programmes. They describe a range of human capacities and responsibilities that go  beyond academic  success.

At Stonehill, these attributes imply a commitment to help all members of our community respect themselves, others and the world around them. Stonehill's values and beliefs are an embodiment of the Learner Profile. The School provides an inclusive and caring learning environment where relationships are founded on empathy and respect. The students share their understanding and apply their knowledge to real-life situations where they are encouraged to think, reflect and take risks in their learning.

Being Reflective, Stonehill students give thoughtful consideration to their learning and experience. They assess their strengths and limitations in a constructive manner. As Risk takers, they explore new ideas and strategies with courage. They are brave and confidently articulate their beliefs. Stonehill learners strive to be Inquirers. They develop their natural curiosity through inquiry and research. They actively enjoy learning and hope this love of learning will continue throughout their lives.

As Communicators, students express themselves confidently and creatively in many ways. They collaborate effectively, listening carefully to the perspectives of other individuals and groups. Being Knowledgeable, they develop and use conceptual understanding, exploring knowledge across a range of disciplines. They engage with issues and ideas that have local and global significance. Being Principled, learners act with integrity and honesty, with a strong sense of fairness and justice, and respect for people's dignity and rights everywhere. Being Open-minded, Stonehill students appreciate their own culture and learn to value the customs and traditions of others.

Spending three intense days immersed in discussion, collaboration, and reflection, I’ve come away from the IB workshop with new clarity—and even more questions.

After my initial induction into concept-based inquiry learning—thanks to my lovely and knowledgeable colleague, Mary—I’ve been eager to deepen my understanding and explore how this approach can shape meaningful learning in the classroom.

“ The aim of all IB programmes is to develop internationally minded people who, recognizing their common humanity and shared guardianship of the planet, help to create a better and more peaceful world.”

As an IB World School, our mission is to bring this vision to life through a holistic educational experience.

As an Education Technology lead, one of my biggest concerns and hopes lies in preparing students for a future we can't fully predict. On March 28th 2025, I had the opportunity to attend the third edition of Embassy REIT’s Occupier Connect 2025, an event that brought together visionary leaders from across industries to discuss the evolving role of Artificial Intelligence (AI) in shaping our work and lives.

On Saturday, the 5th of April, some of our passionate EY team—Zaryn, Neirillu, and Geeta—and our Primary Principal Peter Spratling and I, had the privilege of attending the Best Practice in the Early Years Conference at TISB, led by Dr. Alistair Bryce-Clegg—renowned early years expert, storyteller, and the creative mind behind ABC Does Ltd. His session was nothing short of electric: funny, insightful, and deeply affirming.

Having served on multiple accreditation visits with the New England Association of Schools and Colleges (NEASC), I was honored to be selected for the Lead Visitor training program recently. This specialized training was designed to prepare experienced visitors to lead teams effectively, ensuring a smooth and productive accreditation process for schools worldwide
