IACAC 2025

By Lindsay Stamsos

The International Association for College Admission Counseling (IACAC) 2025 Conference was held at Northeastern University in Boston from July 15–17, with additional events occurring before and after the official dates, in which Lindsay Stamsos, Career & Guidance Counselor at Stonehill, participated.

The event was a platform to connect with several key vendors including KIC UnivAssist, Wren, Cialfo, and the International Baccalaureate (IB). KIC, Wren, and Cialfo regularly organize university group visits to high schools in India and globally. Many of these organizations have previously brought university groups to Stonehill and are planning return visits in the coming months.

Attending the Opening Ceremony and Reception, provided an opportunity for informal networking with both university representatives and fellow college counselors. The social events hosted by KIC UnivAssist and Cialfo alongside a group of university counselors and college counselors, were useful for networking.

Hundreds of American universities were represented in the U.S. University Fair and it was a great opportunity to engage with representatives—especially from institutions where our students have applied, been admitted, or will be attending. It was important to reinforce Stonehill’s name and build connections with key admissions contacts. The priority was to reach out to institutions such as NYU, Emory, Boston University, UC Berkeley, and Northwestern—each a popular or aspirational choice for our students. Sessions focused on predicted grades, traditional European universities, and writing UK personal statements, were quite insightful.

On the third day, the Global University Fair featured hundreds of institutions from outside the U.S. Universities in the UK, the Netherlands, France, and Switzerland—countries that remain popular destinations for our students. It was useful to seek out representatives from Japan and Singapore to learn about emerging institutions and programs.

Since the release of ChatGPT, I’ve been fascinated by the power of AI and how it can support us in our everyday lives. I’ve also quickly realised that we need to be self-disciplined to avoid becoming slaves of AI.

I had the wonderful opportunity to attend the PYP SAIBSA 2025 Job-Alike Sessions at Treamis School on 29th November. The open sign-up encouraged me to participate, and discovering how IB educators come together to learn and grow made the experience truly meaningful. 11 of us attended the event from the Primary team, Stonehill International School.
