Technology and innovation are an integral part of school life at Stonehill. We embrace technology to promote personalised, digital and e-learning. 

At Stonehill, increased access to devices, tools and resources has enabled learners to become co-presenters and co-constructors of their learning. Access to an iPad or Laptop for each member of the learning community, and an Apple TV in every learning environment, allows them to share their learning and interact with guest speakers and teachers/students worldwide. The Technology Support Team ensures that technology is purposefully integrated into the curriculum to add value to every student's learning journey.

Technology in Action at Stonehill

At Stonehill, technology is more than just a tool—it’s a platform for innovation, problem-solving, and creativity. Whether through coding, robotics, Augmented Reality(AR), Virtual Reality (VR) and Artificial Intelligence (AI)- driven learning, or digital storytelling, students use technology to explore, create, and lead in a global digital world.

Technology in the Primary School

The Digital Citizenship (DC) team is made up of the whole school IT coordinator, the librarian and the school counsellor. This team has developed expectations for each grade using internationally recognised organisations such as the International Society for Technology in Education (ISTE). Grade teams work with the DC team to plan and implement a programme that is contextually-based, embedded in the programme of inquiry and relevant to the individual needs of learners.
 

Our Makerspace supports the philosophy of STEM (science, technology, engineering and mathematics) and STEAM (science, technology, engineering, art and mathematics), providing opportunities for learners to collaborate, use data in real-world situations, use higher-order thinking, design and innovate, and be challenged.

Computational thinking is an essential literacy for our learners. They are given opportunities to deconstruct problems using technology, recognise patterns, understand abstraction and to investigate algorithms. These complex tools ensure that learners can communicate in a contextually appropriate manner.

High-quality learning materials and tools encourage use, ensure engagement - allowing learners to actively see the possibilities in front of them.

Technology in the Secondary School

In Secondary School, students are expected to bring their own laptop to school. The faculty leverages technology across the curriculum to best meet the needs of all learners. Technology tools provide students with opportunities to maximise their learning, creatively express themselves, and prepare for success after Stonehill. 

Students can get hands-on experience with 3D design and robotics at the newly constructed STEM building that is equipped with state-of-the-art learning facilities to develop critical thinking and creativity. 

We offer rigorous and practical problem-solving courses such as DP Computer Science and DP Design Technology. Students can take other specialised classes such as mobile app development, graphic design and game design to name a few. 

In MYP, students have an opportunity to explore their creativity through MYP Digital and Product Design. Students solve problems and create technological solutions using the Design Cycle.

By encouraging digital literacy among the students, Stonehill hopes to expose them to all the benefits of technology. The School has made a firm commitment to help students navigate some of the challenging aspects of being 'online.' The Digital Citizenship Programme supports the School community in becoming knowledgeable and responsible netizens.

    SAIBSA CONNECT: Job-Alike Sessions

    I had the wonderful opportunity to attend the PYP SAIBSA 2025 Job-Alike Sessions at Treamis School on 29th November. The open sign-up encouraged me to participate, and discovering how IB educators come together to learn and grow made the experience truly meaningful. 11 of us attended the event from the Primary team, Stonehill International School.
