Head of School Message
Greetings Alumni,
I hope this edition of Beyond the Stone finds you well and healthy.
Looking back, it has been yet another challenging academic year but our community remained committed to keep moving ahead. We were happy that we were able to keep the campus open for most of the year. It has been heart-warming to see our students' lives return to normal and on-campus events being resumed.
After a gap of three years, we were delighted to host a memorable graduation. This year, we were thrilled to have a few Stonehill alumni attend the ceremony. Guest speakers Neil Sairam (Class of 2021) and Clotilde De Napoli (Class of 2014) addressed the crowd with inspirational messages.
As we look beyond the pandemic, we are committed to the continued growth and development of Stonehill International School. In April ‘22 we had our pre-accreditation preparatory visit and there was positive feedback from our evaluators. The Council of International Schools (CIS) and the New England Association of Schools and Colleges (NEASC) accreditations show that Stonehill has achieved high standards of professional performance in international education and is committed to continuous improvement. As our enrolment grows, we continue to be known as one of the most reputed educational institutions in the region.
As always, I would appreciate hearing from you either by email or a visit when you are back in Bangalore.
With best wishes,
Dr.Brian Brumsickle
Head of School

Alumni Visits Stonehill
It's always wonderful when we hear back from our Alumni. Neil Sairam (Class of 2021), Asima Kidwai (Class of 2021) and Jayati Gupta (Class of 2020) visited us on campus in May. We are happy that they are thriving global citizens and it's reassuring to know that Stonehill has provided them with the groundwork for success. We wish them every success in their future endeavours!
Jayati is currently in her second year studying Computer Science at University of British Columbia, Canada.

Asima is currently studying Political Science and International Relations at the University of Toronto, Canada. She describes the learning environment at Stonehill as, "challenging yet, supportive, and engaging. My teachers and classmates created a very personal experience in the classroom that made learning feel comfortable and encouraged me to step out of my comfort zone. Outside of the classrooms, the opportunities to play sports, go on class trips, attend leadership competitions, and participate in clubs such as Student Council and Activities Council, equipped me with many essential learnings and skills. I learnt to be a critical thinker and a good communicator, and I became self-aware and empathetic as a person."
Neil is currently a sophomore at George Washington University in Washington DC, US. He is double majoring in Political Science and International Affairs with a focus on American-European Relations and minoring in French. Here's what he had to say:
"I learnt many things at Stonehill but I most appreciate the drive of the students and the encouragement of the teachers who pushed me to always do better.
Our graduating class as a whole had so many memories but creating a Student Council that cared for its students and leading it as the Chair was something I most treasured."
Bhavya Vyas, Class of 2020, Aleyna Lumsden, Class of 2020 and Sebastian Hartfuss, Class of 2021 visited our campus in April.
Bhavya Vyas (L) and Aleyna Lumsden (R)
Bhavya is studying law at Kings College London in the UK. She is already well established in the British legal framework. Bhavya is one of only two students accepted by Georgetown University in the US to study a joint law degree.
Aleyna is studying Biomedical Sciences at the University of Warwick in the UK. She is planning to either complete a Master's degree in Biomedical Sciences or transition into Medicine once she graduates from university in June 2023.
Sebastian is studying Industrial Engineering at the Karlsruhe Institute of Technology in Germany.

Clotilde De Napoli
Class of 2014
Here's what Clotilde had to say
I graduated from the University of Gastronomic Sciences and Cultures,Italy. I currently work with a multinational company. My real passion is to work in the human rights sector under the interest of food security and food safety.
This dream of mine actually started at Stonehill when I was offered the opportunity to be a delegate at five different Model United Nations as well as two different Flat Classroom Projects. I must say that growing up in India also nourished this vision of mine.
I am passionate about learning and I'm a risk taker.
It is so important to stand out from the crowd today and speak about what your heart truly believes in.
Katherine Baur
Class of 2013
Here's what Katherine had to say
I graduated medical school in May and will be starting a job as a surgeon.
I always knew I wanted to become a doctor because of my experiences growing up overseas.
Living and travelling throughout Asia, I was exposed to a variety of health disparities. Thus, began my interest in medicine.
I aim to combine my passion for human anatomy and surgical pathology with my love of working with my hands. My dream as a surgeon is to care for underserved populations and incorporate global health work into my practice.
My advice is to be persistent, resilient, and never give up. You will be surprised by the things you can achieve by going the extra mile and giving 110%!

Stonehill Hosts a Memorable Graduation On Campus
Stonehill hosted a memorable graduation ceremony for the graduating Class of 2022 on May 21st. This year, after three years, the glitzy ceremony was held on campus bringing together the Stonehill community to celebrate the students and their accomplishments. It was an evening of joy, relief and tears for the graduating Class of 2022.
This year, eight of our Alumni attended our graduation ceremony.
The alumni guest speakers were Neil Sairam (Class 0f 2021) and Clotilde De Napoli(Class 0f 2014). Their messages were filled with advice and a reminder of Stonehill’s close-knit community.
Stonehill's IBDP Results Above World Average for the Tenth Consecutive Year!
This year, Stonehill’s IBDP scores have remained comfortably above the world average for the tenth consecutive year! Stonehill students have once again outdone themselves with a 100% pass rate.
The average IBDP score for Stonehill students was 34 points against a global average of 31.98 points with our two Valedictorians, Anushka Singh and Kalidas Vinod, achieving outstanding scores of 44 points each. Four students were awarded Bilingual Diplomas in Dutch, Japanese and German.

Besides Anushka and Kalidas, students who scored above 40 were Veona Cutinho, Aum Raithatha, Liv Karreby, Rohan Dilip.
The forty-three IBDP candidates that were registered from the Class of 2022 is the highest number of candidates in any year of Stonehill’s history.
Stonehill's Globe-trotting Students
100% of the graduating class have received admission offers and are now headed to prestigious universities from over sixteen countries across North America, Asia, Europe and Australia. They have opted for diverse areas of study ranging from Engineering, Biosciences, Literature, Management, Economics, Global Public Health, Diplomacy and Hospitality to name a few.
Congratulations to the Class of 2022 for their achievements. It has been another challenging year, but they have made the best of it. We look forward to the promise that they will bring to themselves and to the world in the future.
Plant a Tree and Celebrate its Roots
In May, we initiated a tree-planting ceremony to give our Graduating Class of 2022 a chance to leave something behind. The roots of the tree will always remain buried in the school’s earth, a symbolic gesture that Stonehill has prepared its graduates with a solid foundation for them to embark on the next phase of their lives.
The Three Musketeers Explore Sports, Identity and Change at the DP Visual Art Exhibition 2022
In March, our three D2 art students exhibited their impressive artwork with a range of paintings, collages and sculptures. Our Three Musketeers, TJ Pillai, Zakeena and Valentin explored various thought provoking themes in their pieces.
Valentin curated his exhibition in the shape of a stadium with a trophy in the centre and his works explored sports-related themes, physicality and movement in various ways. TJ produced a set of paintings in a wide range of styles that aimed to explore and analyse ‘identity’ in the covid era. Zakeena’s collection of artwork focused on how people process change and project their fears and ambitions on the future. With so much of the last academic year being disrupted, it was very pleasing to see our art students finally able to create and share their work with the community.
Stonehill Hackathon Goes International!
In March, Stonehill hosted its third virtual hackathon. This year the hackathon went international and we had 300 participants from all over the world! In this 24-hour long hackathon, students engaged in coding and creating applications. The participants were judged on their creativity, innovation and feasibility of the created products.
The Stonehill Gender-Sexuality Alliance
Stonehill is an inclusive school and we are proud that our students' learning experience includes one that respects diversity, enables participation, removes barriers and anticipates a variety of learning needs and preferences.
The Stonehill Gender-Sexuality Alliance (GSA) organised for guest speaker Prince Manvendra Singh Gohil, the world’s first openly gay prince, to speak to our secondary school students. They had insightful conversations about the status of LGBTQ+ rights in India and becoming active advocates of change and equality.
Our Boarding News Just Got Better!
This year, we started a boarding newsletter, Home of the Tigers, a bi-annual publication. The boarders share all the fun and diverse activities that they have experienced at Boarding this year. All the articles have been written by the students.
The newsletter covers our boarding philosophy that is aligned with the IB's Mission of developing inquiring, knowledgeable and caring young people who help to create a better world. It’s great to see their big smiles throughout their journey at Stonehill boarding.
