Alumni Speak
It's always wonderful when we hear back from our Alumni. We are happy that they are thriving global citizens and it's reassuring to know that Stonehill has provided them with the groundwork for success.
I am currently approaching the end of the first of my two year Research Master’s in Cognitive Neuroscience at Maastricht University, Netherlands.
This Master’s gives us some insight into different ways neuroimaging methods can be applied to various study designs in order to identify fundamental neuronal functions, which could later be used in Applied Neuroscience. Things are going well and university is keeping me very busy. I'm trying to find a healthy balance between my academic and personal life. It's quite tough but certainly worth it.
In order to preserve myself, I've been learning to not give importance only to academic achievement. Taking a break is not only something to be considered but absolutely necessary, and commendable when able to indicate you need one.
I've got some incredible friends and find myself surrounded by love. If there's anything that can help getting through a rough time at uni it's knowing there's people who have your back and will help you get back up after you take a break.

Reflecting on an Unbelievable Journey!
Returning to my second home, the place where I grew up academically and personally, was an incredible experience that brought back a flood of cherished memories.
Stepping foot on campus again was like revisiting a time capsule, allowing me to catch a glimpse of the best years of my life.
I'm filled with gratitude for the opportunities, knowledge, and experiences. It's where I discovered my passions, honed my skills, and embraced personal growth.
I'm forever indebted to the remarkable faculty and mentors who guided me on this transformative journey.
Congratulations to the graduating class of 2023! I hope all of you had an even better journey at Stonehill International School than I did.
Sachi Morajkar, Class of 2022
I am currently pursuing a Bachelor’s degree in Hospitality and Business at Les Roches Marbella, Spain. I plan to continue at this university to obtain a Master's degree in Marketing. After Stonehill, my journey led me to one of the best hospitality universities in the world where I’m challenged to get better at everything I do.
I am grateful for the important things I learnt at Stonehill like managing my time with assignments. My teachers, especially Ms.Manpreet, supported me throughout my learning and this has made me a better student at university. Ms.Praseeja helped me with my resume and encouraged me throughout my application process.
My boarding experience at Stonehill taught me to be independent and this has benefitted my day-to-day life as a student, living far away from home. I am thankful to my House Parents for creating a loving and caring environment which has helped me adjust to different people from all over the world.
It would be great to hear from you!
We encourage you to contribute your achievements, articles, or snippets of how life beyond Stonehill has been for you. We will be happy to include your contribution in the next edition of Beyond The Stone and will also feature it on the Alumni page on the website!

Stonehill parents from twenty-five participating countries dished out authentic food at this year's International Food Fair, taking visitors on a complete cultural trip with flavourful delicacies from their native countries again after a break of two years.
The event began with the customary flag parade carried by students from more than thirty countries represented at Stonehill. There were singing and dancing performances by the students and, for the first time ever, we had a live band who rocked their way through a fabulous show. The proceeds generated by the IFF were donated to the Stonehill Government School.
Outstanding Theatre Production by Stonehill Students
The MYP students performed “The Insect Play” to packed audiences at the Bangalore International Centre. The satirical play featured various insects parodying human society and critiquing societal structures through a cycle of power struggles and oppression. The students developed collaborative skills, confidence and creativity and gave them a bigger platform to showcase their talents outside school.
Stunning Art Display by DP Students at Chitrakala Parishath
The DP Visual Arts students exhibited their eclectic collection of work at the Karnataka Chitrakala Parishath. For the past one and a half years, these talented artists have worked on perfecting their art, putting together their curatorial statements and working on display techniques.
Stonehill Celebrates the Graduating Class of 2023 at a Beautiful Graduation Ceremony
Stonehill hosted a glittering graduation ceremony to honour the Graduating Class of 2023. The ceremony took place on May 20th, bringing together the Stonehill community to celebrate the accomplishments of the graduates. The evening was filled with mixed emotions as students, parents, faculty, alumni and friends gathered to reflect on the wonderful years spent at Stonehill.
Mr. Alfonso Tagliaferri, Consul General of Italy in Bangalore, was the Guest of Honour at the ceremony and addressed the graduating class. Mr. Jitu Virwani, Founder, Stonehill International School and Chairman & MD of Embassy Group also delivered an inspiring address to the graduates.
This year’s Valedictorian, Wonjun Lee, and Stonehill Citizenship Awardee, Trusha Walia, delivered heartfelt speeches, reminiscing about their wonderful memories at Stonehill, forming lasting relationships with their teachers and peers.
Stonehill’s International Baccalaureate Diploma Programme (IBDP) scores have remained comfortably above the world average now for the eleventh consecutive year.
The average IB score for Stonehill students was 33.5 points against a likely global average of 30 points with our Valedictorian, Wonjun Lee, achieving an outstanding score of 41 points. 8 students (19% of the cohort) were awarded Bilingual Diplomas in French, Japanese, Korean and Turkish.
18 students (42% of the cohort) scored 35 points and above. Three students scored 40 points or more, which puts them amongst the world’s top 5% of IB students. Students who scored above 40 were Wonjun Lee, Rhea Krishna and Malina Wunsch.
Stonehill students have received top grades (7/7) in almost all IB Diploma Programme subjects offered at the school this year, including less common subjects like Environmental Systems and Societies, Visual Arts and Theatre, which demonstrates the quality of instruction across a broad range of academic disciplines at the school.
70% of the Class of 2023 received offers from the world’s top 100 universities, including UC London, the University of Warwick, the University of Manchester, the University of St. Andrews, King's College London, the University of California, the University of British Columbia and Berklee College of Music. So far, the class of forty three students have secured scholarships worth 1.47 million USD.
Joe Lumsden, Deputy Head of School and Secondary School Principal commented, “Stonehill strongly believes in providing as many different avenues for success as possible for our students. Each of our 43 students was able to select a different combination of DP courses in order to forge their own unique pathway to a future of their choice, and we are always pleased to see students attaining the highest grades in every subject group. With such a diverse, international cohort of students, it’s also gratifying to see almost 20% of the class receiving Bilingual Diplomas from the IB this year.”
