A Short History of Stonehill International School

Here is a recap of our major milestones over the years.

Founded in 2008, Stonehill International School is a part of Embassy Education, the education vertical of the Embassy Group.

The ground breaking ceremony and pooja was held in September 2007 and the construction of the Administration Block began in April 2008.

The school opened its doors to eighteen students on the 8th of September 2008.

We were authorised by the IB to offer the Diploma Programme in 2010, the Primary Years Programme in 2011 and the Middle Years Programme in 2012.

We launched our boarding programme in August 2014 with twelve boarding students.

Expansion plans continued with the inauguration of the Multipurpose Hall in October 2018 followed by the state-of-the-art STEM Block and Arts Centre in November 2019.

Diversity, Equity and Inclusion at Stonehill

Stonehill International School is committed to fostering a diverse, equitable, and inclusive community where every individual is valued and respected regardless of their race, background, religion, gender identity, or cultural beliefs. Inclusion is at the heart of Stonehill’s mission as it strives to create a school culture where everyone feels a sense of belonging and can thrive socially, emotionally, and academically. Stonehill is dedicated to promoting these principles throughout the school community by embracing differences and celebrating the unique perspectives and experiences that each student, faculty member, and the wider community brings to the school.

Accreditation and Authorisation

Stonehill International School is accredited by the Council of International Schools (CIS), and the New England Association of Schools and Colleges (NEASC). Stonehill is also a member of the Australian Boarding Schools Association (ABSA).

In November 2023, we were re-accredited by CIS and NEASC. At the same time, we were also re-authorised by the IB as part of their 5-year authorisation cycle.

Stonehill is authorized to offer all four IB Programmes :
  • Primary Years Programme (PYP) – P1 to P8 (Nursery to Grade 5)

  • Middle Years Programme (MYP) – M1 to M5 (Grades 6 to 10)

  • Diploma Programme (DP) – D1 to D2 (Grades 11 and 12)

  • Career-related Programme (CP) – D1 to D2 (Grades 11 and 12)

Strategic Plan- Areas of Strategic Focus and Objectives

Ensuring continuity in leadership

Stonehill will provide a structured leadership training programme for both
faculty and admin staff who are interested in potential opportunities in the future.

Evaluating and ensuring the quality of
events, programmes and teachers

All events organised by the school will be documented and evaluated through a
consistent mechanism.

Leveraging technology to personalise
learning and reporting

Differentiation will remain a top priority for teacher professional growth and divisional
principals will ensure that best practice is shared.

Integrated use of Technology in
Pedagogy

All teachers at Stonehill need to become highly competent with the technology tools
that they have available.

Coordinated Approach to Environmental
Sustainability Initiatives

Stonehill needs to ensure that environmental sustainability remains high on the
agenda for all stakeholders in the community.

Establishment of External Partnerships in
Sports, Arts, Technology and Service

Stonehill will continue to explore partnerships with external providers as part of the
IB Career-related Programme, particularly in the areas of Arts and Design, both
locally and internationally.

Development of New Facilities and Upgrade of Existing Facilities

The new High School Academic Block is expected to be completed in late 2024 and
